Just popping in to post some random shots from our days the last couple of weeks. I have to admit, with the work of starting up the new school year and the heat and drought, I have felt a little (okay, more than just a little) uninspired on the home front. There are projects I hope to get to...more backyard landscaping, some planting along the front yard picket fence, trees and wildflower seeds, etc. However, I find myself wanting to wait until the rains begin to come again, because, even though we have a lot of drip irrigation set up, I end up feeling so wasteful and stingy for using it. Our water supplies are so low and it's not a cheap resource! And, and, and, I just llllooonnnggg for rain.
(I wrote that paragraph last night. A trip to the hardware store this morning did some of the trick of getting me out of my yard funk. I came home with a cart full of mums, a pride of barbadoes plant, and a russian sage beauty. All were on sale and can rarely resist slashed prices on plants.)
Even though it feels nothing like fall as we are still treading the upper 90 to 100 degree territory, I must say...the sunlight in the early mornings and evenings has been lovely. Which reminds me that I need to remember to keep my camera with me more these days. I'm so dependent on my phone camera which is fun with quick and easy photo editing apps, but I'm missing the challenge of manual mode.
I'm so eager to get through September. Two more weeks and fall should begin to visit again in our parts.
In other news besides my despair for this time of year, I've joined a singing group and bought a ukulele. I've had the uke for a week and have been trying to tune it. Mostly, it had been sounding like crap. Though yesterday morning, I picked it up, and strummed it a bit, and it sounded more ukulele-ish. Last night, I made another attempt, and voila, I found it's sweet spot. Yay! I spent the rest of the evening with my feet propped up on my desk, gettting lost in youtube videos of random folks singing every song under the moon on ukulele. Then I got tired of watching those and I entered another rabbit hole of watching more videos from all of my go to music favorites. Fun!
