In my parts, the weather is all the talk these days. The energy is unsurpassable. People, both young and old, and animals are overflowing with friskiness and smiliness. Neighbors whom I haven't seen since May have been toodling around in their front yards reacquainting themselves with their outdoor spaces. Children, on my, the children are beaming and overflowing with enthusiasm and passion.
Fall...autumn...whichever you may prefer to call this time a year...is intensely welcomed by myself. After the harsh and long summer, fall feels truly well deserved. Yes, we persevered through and overcame another summer. Fall is unlike the arrival of spring, where in all honesty, spring in Texas feels like cheating on an exam. I mean, really, birds sing nearly year round here. Winter is hardly a time to hunker down.
Sleeping with the windows open, picnicing outside, a thriving growing season, feeling cool under the shade of a tree, the first gumbo of the season, Smartwool socks... those are pleasures which makes my heart feel alive, calm, and at peace. Come fall, it's time for me to live it up and enjoy my simplest (and greatest) joys.
I spent the day taking photos of everyday, common happenings that looked even more lovely accompanied by cooler temperatures and a gentle breeze.
Welcome home my friend! It's been way too long!
Aren't these bur oak acorns the coolest?
A brief pause on our morning walk.
The feathered friends have been such hearty eaters these days.
Ah...can you feel the breeze blowing into my kitchen?
Snack time has been delicious these days. We had homemade applesauce and walnut cinnamon bread from The Bread Baker's Apprentice. Whatever you do, quickly, use the book's recipe and bake this bread. It's divine. I love that one of Bea's favorite words is "Bah" for bread which she loves fresh and warm, right out of the oven. That's my girl!
99% of the time, I forget that I own a tripod. Yesterday was a 1% kind of day.
The nature shelf at The Natural Child is looking quite festive these days!
I think I have two tripods kicking around here somewhere.. but do they get used, of course not ;)
Lovely images! <3
