On March 17th, Beatrix turned five years old. I'll ask the question every mother asks as her child's birthday comes and goes. How did it happen so fast? Oh, but it does, come and go, so very quickly. So much life packed into childhood, yes?

My girl at five. 

Wears her heart on her sleeve. 

Is passionate and honest. 

Loves a good giggle and a good massage. 

And for that matter, Property Brothers, as much as I do. 

Is not into princesses, but sees the hero in Laura Ingalls. 

Is crazy about horses: playing horses, riding horses, drawing horses, reading about horses. 

Dreams of having a real farm one day (in our town, not far away) and of visiting her mama and daddy by horsedrawn carriage. 

Believes in brownies, the housekeeping fairies, who are naturally responsible for keeping our house clean. 

Wants a dog when she turns 8.

Loves the fiddle, folk music, and dancing. 

Besides her daddy, is the best bicycle partner I've ever had. 

Is bold, loyal, and fiercely independent. 

She's the coolest person I know and I'm so proud of who she is.  I can't believe of all the souls in the universe, hers is the one that made me a mother. 

I wish for you to have many more joyful years ahead of you. I love you, my sweet girl Beatrix!
