Autumn is on its way and with it fields of goldenrod are popping up here and there in our parts. Last week I pulled over on the side of the road (maybe a little too quickly) to forage from a field abloom as far as the eye could see. Bea may or may not have yelled in response to my assertive driving decision, "Mom, you're freaking me out!" Poor thing. Kid to a plant nerd.
I was able to take a whole basket of the golden flowers home.
Dyeing fiber with plants has long been on my list of to do's. I was especially excited to get Bea and her nature girl friends involved with the process.
We dyed cotton muslin following this tutorial pretty closely.
What will be their capes as we celebrate the theme of Michaelmas for our next meeting, turned out really lovely. Full of sun and cheer...a little bit of summer warmth to take with us as we enter the upcoming seasons of turning inward.
